Here are some of the most frequently asked appliance repair questions.

My refrigerator is running, but it is not cool or cool enough.

First, check the plug and temperature controls to verify that the refrigerator has power and is turned to the "on" position.

Check the temperature control settings. Adjust control number higher for a cooler temperature. If this is a new unit and the controls have been set properly for 24 hours but the unit is still warm, you may need to schedule service.

Make sure that both the fresh food and freezer are at least 2/3 full, and ALL bins and shelves, in freezer and fresh-food section, are properly seated in the refrigerator.

Make sure door gaskets are sealing properly.

Ovens & Ranges

My oven burners do not heat.

Make sure the oven controls are set correctly for either Bake or Broil. Check the oven knobs to be sure they are in the correct position.

Check the fuse or breaker boxes to be sure the breakers are ON or that the fuse is good.

Check the power cord to make sure it is plugged into the wall outlet.

Washer Will Not Operate

Check the fuses, breakers and the plug. The washer should be on a separate outlet.

Is the washer lid down? Is water turned on to washer?

Be sure the lid switch probe has not been knocked out. This is a small plastic piece which fits into a hole on the under side of the open lid. It activates the washer's lid switch when the lid is placed in the closed position. Note: Electronic models do not have a lid switch probe.

The Dryer Runs, But Does Not Heat

To minimize the possibility of electric shock, unplug this appliance from the power supply before attempting any maintenance or cleaning. Make sure you have the right timer selection, fabric setting, and temperature selection. The timer should be set to dry and not fluff or cool down. Move timer pointer to mid-range selection.

Make sure front of dryer is not blocked; air flow is needed to dry. Check the circuit breaker/fuses.

Safety First - turn circuit breaker to the OFF position or remove fuses. At the back of the dryer, locate the power cord and unplug it from the wall.

Check the power cord. The power cord may have a burned, broken, or loose connection at the back of the dryer.
